On December 2, 2002, Dorie received a call from her close friend exclaiming, “Your house is on fire!”

Dorie was at a horse show in Atlanta, Texas when the call came and she was thankful to not be in the house the night it caught fire. A drunk driver had plowed into her house, setting it ablaze.
