A Southwest Story.

Our story began in December of 2015 when our daughter graduated from UT Tyler. As we drove into Tyler on Highway 64, I was in awe at how beautiful East Texas was - trees everywhere, ponds, flowers, beautiful homes with large lots, not to mention the people. Southern hospitality goes a long way! We decided to make a life change and move here to simplify our lives. In the transition, we sold our home in Utah and bought a beautiful home in Tyler.

My passion as a child became a profession at an early age. Art and animals mixed when I was 13 years old and by 15 I was working as an apprentice in a professional taxidermy studio. I worked for several companies until 1985 when I established my own business as Morgan Taxidermy. I’ve never caught up and have been fortunate to work on just about everything that crawls, flies, swims or runs.

It’s an honor to preserve trophies for hunters and sportsmen from all different walks of life. I’ve also collected specimens for myself which I display in my showroom.

In this transition, I needed a work studio built on our property. I researched a couple metal building companies but I’m glad that I went one step further. My real estate agent, Dee Martin, recommended Southwest Steel Buildings to do the job.

The first time I talked to the project manager Johnny Kerby, I was impressed. There were so many things that I liked about their service. Southwest seeks to build a durable and quality structure by using the best materials, highest grade cement, and offer a 40-year paint warranty on the panels.

Not only is my building strong and durable but it’s also custom built with a 3/12 pitch and a one-foot overhang. I also had two windows and a tri-panel French door installed to capture the natural light.

Edd chose Light Stone for the exterior walls and Burnished Slate for the trim, gutters and downspouts. This building is a weld-up with a 12" overhang on all sides and a White roof.

It measures 30 x 40 x 12 with a 3/12 roof pitch and it's insulated. It includes 1- 10x10 overhead door, 1- 10x7 framed opening, and 2-2x4 framed openings for windows supplied by the owner.

It includes 26 gauge 40-year limited warranty roof, wall & trim sheets.
