Metal Building with Living Quarters
Contributed by: Dan Seitz
Breaking ground for a Barndominium is exciting!
This straight gable metal building was built to accommodate living quarters inside.
It measures 45' x 60' x 12' with a 4:12 eave height. It includes a 12' x 60' side porch.
It has a Galvalume roof, Light Stone walls, Desert Sand wainscot and Koko Brown trim.
Barndominiums have become the buzz word in recent years. Yet what most people are calling a Barndominium is simply a steel building with living quarters.
We've found you can get the most value out of a steel building with living quarters when you design an open floor plan, like what you see in the pictures. Using an open kitchen and living room design with minimal interior framing allows you to take advantage of the large clear spans of a steel building.
Steel building construction is unique. Unlike wood, there are limitations on where you can put things like windows and doors. The value in using a steel building is working with these limitations rather than trying to modify a steel building around the wood frame design. When you force one to look like the other you end up spending more money.
Here’s an example of what your kitchen space might look like from Randy's Hangar.
**Please note: We DO NOT offer wood finish out work on barndominiums. We can provide the concrete, metal shell, erection of the building plus install the doors/ windows and rough in the plumbing. All other finish out work will have to be completed by another contractor.
